Being a working professional, I always prefer places where I can reach within a few hours or maximum in a day. Traveling for days to reach a destination is something which I do occasionally. Moreover, I cannot deny my love for hill stations as well. “Mountains are calling me” this line suits me best. I find hill stations soul-soothing. Hill stations act as therapy for me. I feel relaxed and calm whenever I visit the mountains. 

I know there are a lot many people who are like me and looking out for certain destinations for a quick trip. So, are you one of them? I guess yes. Today I will be talking about a place that is perfect for summers and winters. I am talking about Shimla.

Whether you are going in summer or planning your trip in winter, Shimla is a go-to destination in all seasons for mountain lovers. Besides this, Shimla is one of the nearest hill stations to Delhi. Delhi to Shimla distance is only 350 km. You can reach here within 8 to 10 hours by road. There are various famous places to visit in Shimla and the best part is all places are not far away from the main Shimla city. Shimla tourist places are comprised of everything, from adventure activities to temple visits to shopping and nature sightseeing. You can find almost everything while visiting this beautiful city of Himachal Pradesh.

Top 4 Places To Visit In Shimla

Whether you are a nature lover, fond of nightlife, or adventure seeker, Shimla city has everything to offer. I have been to this hill station in summers and winters, and I must admit this beautiful town nestled amid the snow-tipped peaks of the Himalayas and lush green pasture land looked equally beautiful in both seasons. 

There are various sight soothing places in Shimla one can visit. You will find ancient temples, adventure points and of course the famous mall road in Shimla. Above that, if you travel a few kilometers outside of Shimla, there are picturesque places that can surely have a calming effect on your soul. So, be ready to experience Shimla from my eyes. 

Jhakoo Hills

Framed with alpine trees and greenery, Jhakoo hills are one of the best places to visit in Shimla. Jhakoo hills are famous because of two things. First of all, it is the highest point in Shimla. You can witness almost the whole city from here. Secondly, A famous Hanuman temple is also situated on these hills. The temple has a tall statue of Lord Hanuman. Many tourists come to this place to have a sense of divinity surrounded by the alluring beauty of hills. 

The temple is a few kilometers away from mall road. You can hire a cab to reach the temple, or if you want to enjoy nature, then take a 2 Km stroll to reach this place. Also, there is an option of ropeway as well. Walking uphill might get difficult for you if you are not habitual of trekking. The best option that I found was a cab.

The Shimla Ridge

Shimla ridge is the center of Shimla city. You can do various activities in Shimla ridge. For photogenic tourists, this place is an ideal spot. Some of the top places to visit in the Shimla ridge area are Mall Road, Christ Church, Gaiety Theatre, Lakkar Bazar, and Scandal Point. 

If you want to do some shopping and purchase mufflers, shawls, and decorative items made up of wood then mall road and Lakkar bazaar are two ideal spots for shopaholics. To see the architecture of the British era, you can visit Christ Church and Gaiety Theatre of Shimla. Both these architectural marvels were constructed by British architects and will give you a glimpse of the pre-colonial time period.

Kufri

Kufri is among the renowned Shimla tourist places. It is just 15 Kilometer away from mall road Shimla. You can reach the place within 30 to 45 minutes. Kufri is quite popular for its natural beauty, alpine trees, and lofty peaks in its surroundings. Another thing for which Kufri is famous is the Kufri Fun World. You can enjoy various fun and adventure activities in the Kufri Fun world. Apart from this, you can visit Kufri Zoo, Rupin Pass, Indira Tourist Park, Himalayan Nature Park, Mahasu Peak, and Kufri Main Bazaar. 

Undoubtedly, Kufri is one of the best places to visit in Shimla. Here you get a good wintery feel all season. The cool Himalayan breeze keeps this place pleasant in Summers as well. If you are visiting Winters, you can find this place completely covered in snow. Moreover, you can enjoy skiing at Kufri in winter. 

Narkanda

Narkanda is a small town located in Himachal Pradesh. It is around 60 kms away from Shimla city. The weather of Narkanda is always delightful for tourists. In summers the temperature remains from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius and in winters you can find heavy snowfall here. During the winters, Narkanda is jam-packed. A lot of tourists come here to enjoy skiing. Narkanda is a silent and peaceful town. Unlike Shimla city, this place is more towards peace and calmness. Many people love to visit Narkanda to avoid the chaos of cities. Moreover, while visiting Narkanda, one must visit Tannu Jubar Lake, Hatu Peak, Hatu Mata Temple, Kacheri, and Jau Baug. Whether you are going to Narkanda in Summers or Winters, you will certainly fall in love with the scenic beauty of this place.
